The Rockford Listening Room is run by a group of dedicated volunteers who ensure each concert is prepped and ready for the musicians and audiences. They meet each month to schedule building access, hosting and sound managing among the many other tasks to keep live music available to everyone. And we are always looking for more volunteers.
Here's what to expect:
Concerts occur each Friday evening from September to June with some events happening on Saturdays and some weekday evenings. Generally concerts start around 7pm and end by 9:30pm with some of our more popular concerts and special fundraisers ending a bit later. Volunteers are expected to arrive by 6pm for set up and stay after the concert to put the room back into order. Our loyal audiences usually help with clean up so we're all done in no time!
Event tasks include: introducing the musicians to the audience, setting up and putting away chairs, making coffee and tea, preparing snacks, maintaining the kitchen area, setting up the PA system, welcoming visitors, and making sure the guest musicians have what they need for a successful evening.
You can volunteer as often as you are available and concert schedules are done months in advance so you can easily plan your volunteering. The committee meets once monthly to discuss scheduling among other tasks and all volunteers are encouraged to attend.
If you enjoy live music in an intimate venue and you want to do more by volunteering, please contact us by email: firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to have you join the team. Your gift of time to make the Rockford Listening Room a welcoming place for musicians and visitors help promote some of the wonderful things Rockford has to offer!!!
