For the month of January we welcome David Stocker, musician, artist, teacher, activist, community leader who will lead us on a journey through music and stories.

AFRICAN DRUMMING WORKSHOP, 7PM

 

The first hour will be an African Drum Workshop led by David and friend Blazey Onyango. Find out how to get the most out of drum circles and what kinds of drums circles are out there. Experience five basic drum rhythms from African, Caribbean, and Brazilian traditions. All ages are welcome. Bring your drum or use one of ours. We should all be better drummers by the end of the month!

SONG/STORY HOUR, 8PM

 

The second hour will be about songs, stories, and poetry. Dave will tell the story of Queen Marimba, how a weapon of war was turned into an instrument of peace, Dave will help us learn some songs, come to know more about each other and make some new friends. Guests include Ken Toot, Jahmes Finlayson, West Lit UP poets, Andrew Jacob Holm, Blaey Onyango and more.
