HISTORY

The Rockford Listening Room, formerly known as JustGoods Listening Room, is the brainchild of local Rockford musician and dedicated promoter, Ron Holm (Emery Christensen, Trinadora, Roy Roots). Trying to fill a spot in the local live music scene at the Historic Midtown District of Rockford, Ron approached JustGoods about having a small music series for 4 Friday Nights in October 2011. Before the concert series even began, Ron had interested musicians wanting to book for the next 4 months!

The Friday Night Concert Series has been offering free concerts on Friday nights with musicians such as Mark Dvorak, Eric Lambert, Tom Mac, Ernie Hendrickson, Derek Luttrell, The Burns Brothers, Greg Herriges, Trinadora, Truman's Ridge, Buddy Mondlock just to name a few. And the list grows as local up-and-coming talents as well as touring musicians across the United States flock to this intimate room to showcase their talents to an eager Rockford crowd.

The building, located at the corner of 7th Street and 1st Avenue at the northern edge of the Historical Midtown District is the home to Rockford Urban Ministries (affectionately called RUM), JustGoods Fair Trade Store, Midtown District Business Association, several apartments and both a wind turbine and solar panels. It is a Not-for-profit Green Energy building lovingly rehabilitated by a dedicated group of volunteers headed by Rockford Urban Ministries and their Work Camps Program.

Building owners Lee and Charmaine Schreiner saw the potential for a stage in the center room while renovating and offered Charlotte's Web Concert Series a new place for their performances before their merge with Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center.

In addition to the Friday Night Concerts, The Rockford Listening Room offers a place for local visual artists to display their work, a place for educational presentations and workshops, and a gathering place for local not-for-profit meetings.

All our concerts are free and open to the public. We ask you show your appreciation to all our performers by giving a generous donation and/or make purchases of their CD's and other promotional merchandise. Please support our local and regional musicians and keep live music LIVE!!! Many thanks from the RLR volunteers!!!
